About The Position

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Class A CDL required.
• Ability to obtain Hazmat, Tank, and Double/Triples endorsements as required.
• Valid DOT Medical Certification required.
• No record of DUI, reckless driving, or positive drug and/or alcohol screen during the past three years.
• Ability to use a forklift and other equipment needed to load and unload freight.
• Familiarity with technology sufficient to perform basic job functions.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and managers.
• General familiarity with the delivery area and ability to use maps.
• Working knowledge of FMCSA safety regulations and hours-of-service requirements.
• Basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

• Experience driving doubles and/or triples.
• At least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience with similar equipment.
• Ability to chain as needed and work in inclement weather.
• Experience in an LTL operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and move freight safely and efficiently using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or other equipment.
• Note and record exceptions in shipment count or condition to minimize cargo claims.
• Make multiple customer deliveries and provide high levels of customer service within the Oak Harbor network.
• Maintain required information using electronic devices.
• Complete and verify paperwork, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, freight counts, hazardous-material shipment details, and special loading or handling instructions.
• Use sound judgment to maximize efficiency while meeting customer expectations.
• Meet the Company's reliability and dependability standards.
• Chain as needed and work in inclement weather.
• Work various shifts as needed to accommodate business levels.
• Travel to nearby terminals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
