P&D Driver
About The Position
As a P&D Driver, you pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally and serve as the face of Southeastern Freight Lines to customers. The role involves operating a tractor-trailer in various conditions and handling vehicle operations, including coupling and uncoupling, connecting lines, and adjusting equipment. Drivers conduct vehicle inspections, manage cargo loading and unloading, and ensure transport documents are accurate and compliant, particularly when handling hazardous materials. They must maneuver safely in challenging conditions such as heavy traffic and tight spaces, report incidents and delays, follow safety regulations and company policies, and provide professional customer service.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of driving experience; 1 year is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT, Tanker, and Twin Trailers endorsements, with no automatic restrictions.
- At least 21 years old.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English; perform simple mathematical calculations; handle receipts; read maps and road signs; and maintain driving logs.
- Detailed knowledge of and compliance with DOT rules and guidelines, including safe driving, hours of service, vehicle inspections, and hazardous-material transportation.
- Meet DOT physical qualifications.
- Pass alcohol and drug tests.
