Black & Veatch Family of Companies•Newnan, GA

About The Position

Overland Contracting Inc., a Black & Veatch company, is hiring a full-time heavy equipment operator for construction work. The operator uses one or more types of powered construction equipment—including track loaders, dozers, backhoes, excavators, scrapers, graders, side booms, boring machines, and extended-boom forklifts—to excavate, move, and grade materials. The role requires safe, qualified operation of assigned equipment and coordination with crew members on active construction sites. The operator performs equipment inspections and routine maintenance, maintains equipment logs, follows project specifications and load-capacity requirements, and observes loads and surrounding conditions to prevent injury or property damage. The position also requires knowledge of trenching and excavation requirements, hazard recognition, and participation in site safety planning and reporting. This safety-sensitive position is based in a typical construction-site environment, including outdoor work in variable and extreme weather, cramped or awkward workspaces, potentially distracting noise, and exposure to hazardous equipment. Shifts may last up to 12 hours and involve hard physical labor. The employer describes a commitment to safety, professional growth, and an inclusive work environment.
