About The Position
Volt is immediately hiring a Machine Operator in Groveport, Ohio. This is a full-time, nine-month contract opportunity. The Machine Operator moves loose or bundled pipe within the shop and yard, assembles pipe orders, and maintains organized work supplies. The role follows safety precautions for fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe, and operates powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and client procedures. The operator sets up and maintains pipe fabrication machines, measures and records random pipe lengths, and measures and cuts pipe using band saws or torches. The position also involves threading and beveling pipe with Landis machines and inspecting and maintaining forklift equipment. The offered pay rate is $19.00–$20.00 per hour. Requirements
- 6–8 months of experience with machinery, band saws, automatic welding machines, and a mechanical background.
- Experience using and understanding tape measures.
- Experience using gauges for quality checks.
- 3–6 months of forklift experience.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of safe work practices in a pipe yard.
- Computer skills for automated machinery.
- Experience in fire sprinkler pipe fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Move loose or bundled pipe within the shop and yard.
- Assemble pipe orders, including single sticks or bundles, and maintain organized work supplies.
- Follow safety precautions for fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe.
- Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and client procedures.
- Set up and maintain machines for pipe fabrication.
- Measure, record, and add random pipe lengths accurately.
- Measure and cut pipe using band saws or torches.
- Thread and bevel pipe using Landis machines.
- Inspect and maintain forklift equipment.
