About The Position

Great Southern Wood Preserving is hiring a Forklift Operator at its Lake Panasoffkee location. The role operates an industrial forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, and move products, equipment, or materials. The operator unloads and stacks material on and off commercial flatbed trailers, uses a scan gun to track inventory movements, and keeps products organized and safely stacked. The position also supports loading and unloading trucks, cleanup, and responding to customer and plant needs. Candidates must have prior warehouse and forklift experience and be motivated, dependable team players.

Requirements

• Previous warehouse and forklift experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and have a clear command of English.
• Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
• Ability to get on and off the lift and restack lumber.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Operate an industrial forklift to move, push, pull, lift, stack, and tier products, equipment, and materials.
• Unload and stack material on and off commercial flatbed trailers using an industrial forklift.
• Use a scan gun to track inventory movements.
• Keep material evenly, safely, and neatly stacked and maintain product organization in all warehouses.
• Identify the different sizes and treatments of lumber manufactured at the plant.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently in response to customer and plant needs.
• Assist with picking up lumber and other materials after spills.
• Assist with housekeeping and cleanup as needed.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality, use time efficiently, meet productivity standards, and complete work promptly.
• Read and interpret written information and communicate with supervisors and other employees as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and treat others respectfully.
• Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
