About The Position

The Nursing Department at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital provides 24-hour direct care services to geropsychiatric patients. The primary goal is to facilitate patient discharge to less restrictive settings by assisting them in improving and/or maintaining their physical, mental, and social functioning. This is achieved through collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The position involves providing direct patient care according to individualized treatment care plans, which includes assisting patients with activities of daily living and helping them develop new social and interactional skills within a safe, therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Licensure as a Certified Nurse Assistant by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Previous psychiatric experience
  • Knowledge of nursing scope of practice
  • Bilingual Spanish and English

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed staff.
  • Follow instructions and report observations of bio-psychosocial needs and behaviors to a licensed nurse in a timely manner.
  • Provide direction and assistance to patients in activities of daily living.
  • Demonstrate competencies as defined on the Competency Assessment.
