About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and performs patient care plans to improve outcomes. The RN also helps ensure a safe and therapeutic environment and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements

• One year of RN experience.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is preferred upon hire; it must be obtained before direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status using organizational and leadership skills.
• Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions.
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting, and assess patient condition.
• Evaluate, update, and revise the plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
