About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - PRN to join their team of medical professionals in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, NV. This unique position allows you to make a difference in the lives of patients struggling with substance abuse within the facility. You will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide support to this diverse population of patients with complex needs.

Requirements

  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in NV.
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in NV.
  • A current DEA registration in NV.
  • Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals and correctional staff.
  • Strong written communication and verbal skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing mental health conditions to facility residents.
  • Assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with psychiatric disorders.
  • Medication management, including prescribing, adjusting, and discontinuing medication as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Responding to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate interventions and safety protocols.
  • Coordinating, leading, and participating in educational training activities related to mental health care.
  • Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Ensuring staff are responsive to patients’ needs.
