About The Position

The Quality/Employee Health Nurse Coordinator role at Ohio County Hospital is a full-time position responsible for various aspects of quality assurance and employee health. This includes maintaining employee health records, overseeing the onboarding health assessments for new hires, administering TB testing and vaccines, managing N95 fit testing, and tracking employee vaccination rates. The position also involves assisting with infection prevention education, monitoring illness trends, and contributing to risk management and quality improvement activities. The role requires strong communication and record-keeping skills, adherence to organizational policies and regulatory standards, and the ability to work effectively in a potentially stressful environment. The coordinator will also be responsible for data entry, maintaining forms, and staying updated through email communications.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) required.
  • 1 year experience in healthcare required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Clear speech to communicate effectively with customers (e.g. patients, families, and other team members).
  • Fine and gross motor skills.
  • Subject to bloodborne pathogens at all times in patient care.
  • Adherence to OCH Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures, Scope of Practice within License/Certification, HIPAA and HIPAA Security Confidentiality Standards, Workplace Safety, Mandatory Training, and Annual Compliance Education.

Nice To Haves

  • RN (Registered Nurse) preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in healthcare preferred.
  • May be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain high school diploma within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains employee health records.
  • Oversees the onboarding process of new employees, including baseline health assessments, TB testing/screening, lab titers, and vaccine administration.
  • Maintains records on employee influenza vaccination rates.
  • Ensures initial and annual N95 Fit testing is completed for employees and contracted staff.
  • Administers Flu vaccine to employees during flu season and keeps records of vaccinated individuals or declinations.
  • Provides initial consultation for employee/provider BBP exposures and completes follow-up appointments.
  • Reports to NHSN as required employee vaccination rates.
  • Assists with new employee orientation presentation on Infection Control and Prevention.
  • Monitors departmental illness reports and trends to identify potential infection control concerns.
  • Assists with data collection and management for quality and risk management activities.
  • May be requested to be a member of a Performance Improvement team.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and inputs data into appropriate databases.
  • Maintains up-to-date forms and files pertaining to indicators.
  • Performs all procedures according to established policies and procedures of OCH and adheres to legal compliance policies and other regulatory issues.
  • Continues own education for self-improvement.
