About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least three years of millwright experience or comparable field experience in the construction service industry.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
• Ability to contribute to company goals and demonstrate approachability, open-mindedness, responsibility, and passion for the work.
• Ability to physically perform the work, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work at varying heights, around moving machinery, outdoors or in non-temperature-controlled environments, and over uneven ground or terrain.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a high-functioning team environment.
• For advanced positions: high school diploma or equivalent; three to five years of millwright or directly related experience; ability to supervise others and manage their time; knowledge of employee life-cycle processes and employee relations; and ability to instruct, guide, or mentor others in safety and rigging practices.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, align, level, and anchor machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Set clearances between moving and stationary parts, adjust tension, and replace worn, damaged, defective, or misaligned mechanical parts.
• Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment and perform installation and maintenance work at the installation site.
• Construct machine foundations using materials such as wood, cement, grout, and steel.
• Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels using portable gas heating equipment.
• Ensure assigned work is understood before beginning and complete it according to specifications and within the given timeframe.
• Follow MEI’s Health and Safety Manual and applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Perform housekeeping in the assigned or project area and complete required paperwork.
• Signal or verbally direct workers involved in hoisting and moving loads to protect workers and materials.
• Test rigging and attach loads using hand and power tools; select cables, pulleys, winches, and other gear appropriate to the load and work conditions.
• Move heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces and maneuver suspended loads around obstacles.
• Fabricate, set up, repair, dismantle, and store rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
• Operate vehicles and mechanized equipment, including forklifts, and control machines and processes.
• For advanced positions, supervise and manage others’ work and instruct, guide, or mentor them in safety protocols and standard rigging practices.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
