About The Position

The Millwright is responsible for installing, assembling, and, when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. The role involves transporting and locating machines and equipment to desired locations using various tools like forklifts, hoists, winches, and cranes. The Millwright must understand how a machine functions to properly assemble and disassemble it, which may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems. The position requires using complex instruction books detailing machinery assembly and utilizing tools such as levels, welding machines, hydraulic torque wrenches, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices to achieve extreme tolerances. This work requires practical skill and journey-level expertise as a millwright, including performing incidental tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 4 years of combined experience and training similar to that required in a bona fide apprenticeship program as a Millwright; or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Millwright; or eight (8) years of documented Millwright experience; or five (5) years of documented Millwright experience and three (3) years in a related trade
  • Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required
  • Experience as a millwright in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings or other specifications to determine work procedures
  • Ability and knowledge to dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
  • Ability and knowledge in welding including arc, acetylene and hydrogen
  • Ability to properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Ability and knowledge to properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand tools
  • Ability to clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
  • Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment
  • Ability to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment
  • Ability to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (i.e., pipefitter, machine repair) and other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
  • Knowledge of G-Suite
