About The Position

RQ Construction is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Jacksonville, FL office. This leadership role will oversee mechanical and plumbing engineering design development for projects across all RQ operational regions. The selected candidate will help guide engineering standards and project execution in compliance with U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force planning, design, and RFP requirements. As part of the RQ Engineering team, you will collaborate with a highly skilled group of engineers, designers, and construction professionals dedicated to innovation, quality, and problem-solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in HVAC and Plumbing systems
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • Minimum of 10 years of HVAC and plumbing system design experience within a consulting environment
  • Experience with ASHRAE standards 90.1, 62.1, and 55
  • Experience with California Title 24 Energy Code requirements
  • Proficiency using BIM software, Revit, and AutoCAD required
  • Provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).

Nice To Haves

  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification preferred
  • Background in sustainable and energy-efficient building design preferred
  • Experience supporting Design-Build projects and alternative project delivery methods preferred
  • Previous work on government/Department of Defense construction projects highly desirable
