About The Position

The Building Administrator (Temporary) acts as a resource for building administration and as a support to principals, teachers, and other stakeholders as requested by the Chief Area Instructional Leader. The Building Administrator (Temporary) reports to the Chief Area Instructional Leader.

Requirements

  • For Principals: Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration, Supervision, or Education.
  • Minimum two (2) years teaching experience in a K-12 school district.
  • A valid Michigan school administrator’s certificate, or within six (6) months of hire date or placement in the administrator position, the individual must enroll in an approved school administrator preparation program.
  • The individual shall apply for and obtain from Michigan Department of Education (MDE) a school administrator certificate within the three years as required by law.
  • For Assistant Principals: A bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum one (1) year teaching experience in a K-12 school district.
  • A valid Michigan school administrator’s certificate, or within six (6) months of hire date or placement in the administrator position, the individual must enroll in an approved school administrator preparation program.
  • The individual shall apply for and obtain from MDE a school administrator certificate within the three years as required by law.
  • Regular on time and in person attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an administrator in the absence of the principal or other administrative staff.
  • Work on special projects as requested by the Chief Area Instructional Leader.
  • Provide coaching to teachers and other administrators to support scholar achievement.
  • Work with the school leadership team to identify and implement solutions addressing scholar underachievement.
  • Facilitate conversations between stakeholders, as requested.
  • Attend meetings as directed by the Chief Area Instructional Leader.
  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
