About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. The Transplant Licensed Social Worker is a member of the solid organ transplant multidisciplinary care management team and is responsible for assisting in the patient management in all phases of care. The role reflects appropriate knowledge of Social Work scope of practice, current state requirements, CMS Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, Patient Bill of Rights, AB 1203 and other Federal or State regulatory agency requirements specific to the Social Work role. The Social Work team member will partner with the multi-disciplinary team utilizing best practices, relevant data and compliance with the mission/philosophy, standards, goals and core values of UAMS: Comfort, Hope, and Healing. Primary elements of the social work role include: assessment of the psychological, financial, and discharge planning needs of the patients and families, providing information, support, counseling, and referrals to other levels of care and appropriate resources for the transplant patient. This includes a variety of age-specific populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Must be a licensed by an Arkansas Professional Board as a Licensed Masters Social Worker or Licensed Certified Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW) by date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the patient management in all phases of care.

  • Providing information, support, counseling, and referrals to other levels of care and appropriate resources for the transplant patient.
