About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New Department of the Navy employees must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements if a current federal employee applying for a GS position.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
• At least one year of general experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 level, demonstrating progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for the position.
• Alternatively, qualify through at least two full academic years of education above high school, or a qualifying combination of education and experience equivalent to one year of experience. A transcript must be submitted when qualifying based on education.

Responsibilities

• Explain library policies, rules, regulations, circulation procedures, and entitlements to library customers.
• Assist patrons in locating and using library operations and resources, including room reservations, programming, reference services, and the Makerspace.
• Shelve items and maintain the collection through shelf-reading, straightening, and annual inventory.
• Use available resources to provide directions, base information, and other information to patrons and visitors.
• Assist with creative tasks, including long-term or temporary displays, marketing materials, and artistic programming.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
