About The Position

The Library Technician works under direct supervision and assists with the daily maintenance of the library, including ordering, cataloging, classifying, and circulating library materials. The role also involves organizing library resources, supporting detainee library aides, helping users with the card catalog, and maintaining records and inventories.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in library sciences or a related field.
Provisional or professional Librarian Certification.
Experience and/or training assisting in the operation of a small institutional library.

Responsibilities

Maintain and organize the circulation of library materials.
Assist in directing and training detainee library aides.
Assist in selecting library books, periodicals, and other materials for purchase.
Conduct library inventories.
Prepare, maintain, and report records related to circulation, inventory, newspapers, and magazines.
May assist with library orientation for classes in coordination with instructors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
