About The Position

The River Delta Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant II - TK Aide to provide instructional support to students in the classroom under the guidance of a certified teacher. Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Possession of an associate degree with an Educational, medical, or social services field focus, or passing score on district proficiency exam for employment.
  • Ability to supervise, monitor, and assist students.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, effectively with adults and students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in the classroom by working with students individually or in small groups to help them achieve standards of conduct and responsibility.
  • Greet students and help with their transition from home to the school setting.
  • Implement and modify transitional kindergarten curriculum, learning materials, and activities as directed by the teacher.
  • Evaluate and identify each student’s readiness skills based on age, ability, and interest.
  • Tutor students in various subject matters, study skills, test-taking, and homework preparation, and motivate students.
  • Perform classroom record-keeping functions, including taking attendance, recording absences, and accepting notes from parents.
  • Collect anecdotal notes, student behavior observations, and assessment results to provide information to the teacher or district personnel.
  • Collect student homework and test papers, record grades, and collaborate with teachers on progress reports.
  • Provide supportive assistance to teachers with tasks such as copying, typing, filing, and compiling lesson plan materials.
  • Prepare a welcoming and stimulating classroom environment, considering safety and support for children during classroom, lunch, and playground activities.
  • Supervise or assist in supervising student eating areas, enforcing school procedures, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Supervise playground activities, prevent dangerous play, and ensure students stay in designated areas.
  • Use positive reinforcement strategies to assist students in developing appropriate behavior and appreciating human diversity.
  • Implement teacher-set standards for appropriate student behavior to ensure effective participation and a safe learning environment.
  • Assist in emergencies, administer minor first aid, and report accidents and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform routine clerical duties such as copying, laminating, and binding materials.
  • Supervise students in classrooms or during various activities.
  • Assist students with personal care needs such as toileting, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Escort students who need to leave the classroom.
  • Accompany students and teachers on field trips or outings.
  • Ensure a safe and clean learning environment for students.
  • Prepare displays.
  • Assist in set-up and serving during morning nutrition.
  • Attend trainings and meetings to gather and convey information and stay updated on best practices.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical functions as needed.
  • Utilize basic computer skills for emails, training, and student assistance.
  • Interpret/translate communications to parents/students if necessary.
