About The Position

The Pre-K Instructional Aide supports teachers with classroom preparation, management, and instruction. The role involves working directly with children, supporting their emotional and self-help needs, preparing classroom materials, assisting with instruction and classroom management, and communicating with teachers, district personnel, students, and parents. The aide follows district safety protocols and maintains confidentiality.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Formal academic assessment, an associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning.
Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
Knowledge of general office equipment.
Enjoy working with small children.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with children.

Responsibilities

Communicate with children in a positive and encouraging way.
Support teachers as needed.
Assist children with self-help skills, including eating, drinking, toileting, diaper changing, dressing, hand washing, and brushing teeth.
Provide emotional support to children.
Accompany ill students to the nurse.
Prepare and maintain classroom materials.
Obtain and assemble manipulatives.
Operate various office machines.
Instruct small groups and provide one-on-one instruction.
Reinforce classroom management under the teacher's direction.
Record data for report cards.
Inform the teacher of students' special problems or needs.
Supervise children during recess.
Monitor students during bus duty and other times as needed.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
Communicate regularly with students or parents by phone, video conference, email, or district-approved website.
Maintain confidentiality.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
