About The Position

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at South Columbus Preparatory Academy at German Village in Columbus, Ohio. The school serves students from EK through 8th grade and offers a college-preparatory program emphasizing hands-on learning and character education. The Instructional Aide assists the Teacher with classroom activities and promotes positive student behavior in academic and extracurricular settings. The aide helps ensure student safety and a positive school climate, and supports the School Leader and Teachers in carrying out assigned duties in accordance with the philosophy and policies of ACCEL Schools, the school, its governing board, the State Board of Education, and applicable laws. The starting hourly rate is $15.50, and the position offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Starting pay may vary based on geography or market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Requirements

Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or passage of the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Successful completion of a BCI/FBI check.
Ability to meet educational standards as applicable.
Ability to work well under pressure and consistently prioritize and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to understand and manage confidential information.
High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs.

Responsibilities

Support lessons taught by the Teacher to individual students or groups, following instructional plans as assigned by the Teacher or School Leader.
Help plan classroom activities as directed by the Teacher and support the Teacher in student and parent relations.
Assist with school activities, including parent-faculty nights, faculty meetings, assemblies, commencement exercises, fundraisers, chaperoning student activities, providing student guidance, and participating on faculty committees.
Perform clerical duties, including grading papers and making copies.
Assist the Teacher with classroom technology.
Help maintain the cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom, and other school areas.
Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school’s philosophy and mission in school activities.
Perform other assigned duties, including field trips, morning duty, dismissal duty, and lunch duty.
Work cooperatively with the Teacher and others, follow directives from the Administrator or designee and Teacher, and contribute to a positive school climate and culture through high professional standards.
