About The Position

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides education services for K–12 students who need additional support to succeed in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to provide in-district classrooms and standalone schools for students with special and alternative education needs. The Behavior Aide works one-on-one with an assigned student, supporting individualized education plan (IEP) goals through customized behavior support and life-skills instruction as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves implementing and tracking behavior support plans, supporting students’ safety and social development, and providing personal care according to student needs. The position requires physical responsiveness to student needs, including potential lifting and assisting with mobility, and may involve de-escalation, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Ability to run short distances and move quickly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often handling up to 50 pounds or more.
Ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as helping students write, manipulate small objects, or use adaptive devices.
Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
Ability to remain calm and composed in physically and emotionally demanding situations to ensure student safety and well-being.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

Work with students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Work one-on-one with an assigned student to meet IEP goals, providing accommodations and modifications as needed.
Assist in developing and modifying behavior support plans.
Implement behavior support plans and record and track behavioral data, progress toward goals, and incidents.
Use behavior support and intervention strategies.
Use de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
Foster a positive, inclusive environment that supports appropriate social and behavioral skills.
Supervise and monitor students, including while traveling to and from school locations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to implement behavior support plans consistently.
Provide personal care support according to student needs.
Communicate effectively with parents.
