About The Position
Nielsen Mechanical, a Crete United company, is seeking an experienced commercial HVAC Journeyman Installer/Technician to work on commercial HVAC systems and projects in the Denver market. Projects include new construction, equipment replacements, and system upgrades involving rooftop units, boilers, chillers, air handlers, and other mechanical systems. The role calls for a skilled tradesperson who can install equipment, troubleshoot issues, and restore systems to proper operation while contributing to quality craftsmanship, teamwork, and jobsite safety. The position offers a steady pipeline of work, consistent year-round employment without seasonal layoffs, supportive field leadership, and opportunities for long-term growth. Pay is listed at $30–$40 per hour depending on experience, with the possibility of a different range based on the level at which the role is filled. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Requirements
- Four or more years of commercial HVAC installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting commercial rooftop units (RTUs).
- Knowledge of commercial sheet metal ductwork and mechanical piping installations.
- Ability to independently diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related HVAC issues.
- Experience using HVAC diagnostic tools, including multimeters, gauges, and other testing equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of commercial HVAC controls, airflow, and system operations.
- Comfort working on rooftops, ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with boilers, chillers, air handlers, and other commercial HVAC equipment.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Completion of an HVAC apprenticeship or equivalent journeyman-level experience.
- Relevant manufacturer or commercial HVAC equipment training.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs), boilers, chillers, air handlers, and ventilation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and airflow issues in commercial HVAC systems.
- Perform equipment replacements, system upgrades, and new construction installations.
- Install and modify commercial sheet metal ductwork, fittings, and ventilation systems.
- Install and connect refrigerant lines, condensate drains, and mechanical piping.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Perform equipment startup, testing, and operational troubleshooting.
- Identify installation deficiencies and make adjustments to ensure proper system performance.
- Work independently and alongside other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Follow applicable mechanical codes, manufacturer specifications, and jobsite safety requirements.
