About The Position

Requirements

• At least six years of work experience related to the listed duties, including hands-on GIS software experience in data collection, database management, mapping, or spatial analysis; qualifying college-level coursework and/or a degree in engineering, geospatial, or a related technical field that includes GIS coursework may substitute for the required experience year for year.
• Ability to carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds.
• Valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license and ability to travel to project locations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Pass the required interview process, job-function screening, and reference check.

Nice To Haves

• Materials testing experience.
• Passion for construction and engineering and enjoyment of working outdoors.
• Strong understanding of technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the district’s GIS program.
• Maintain and enhance the roadside asset database.
• Develop and administer database tools.
• Coordinate the maintenance diary system.
• Set up construction projects within ArcGIS.
• Support additional GIS initiatives and ensure data accuracy, usability, and alignment with district needs.
• Assist with construction inspection, survey activities, and material testing.
• Obtain and use a drone pilot’s license for stockpile measurements, project reconnaissance, and aerial documentation.
• Manage the district’s culvert inspection program.
• Manage the district’s billboard inspection program.
• Conduct overhead clearance assessments and keep associated datasets up to date.
