About The Position

Requirements

• Be a student or graduate of a nursing program.
• Entry-level associate degree RNs with a start date on or after April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of completion of a baccalaureate nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of their RN start date.
• Entry-level associate degree RNs with a start date before April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate nursing program completion as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at hire.
• Have a current RN license meeting applicable state requirements.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, unless the work area determines BLS competency is not required for a position not on campus.
• Obtain additional state licensure and/or specialty certification or training as required by the work area.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Have experience working in a team environment.
• Have computer skills.
• Be able to work flexible hours, potentially including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
• Be able to adapt to unpredictable situations in the work setting.
• Demonstrate leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical-thinking skills.
• For TN sponsorship, obtain state licensure and complete VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Nice To Haves

• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Support professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care.
• Provide leadership through preceptor and informal leadership roles and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource adequacy.
• Mentor and teach, and potentially participate on committees or projects.
• Drive a personal vehicle if required for the employee's assigned responsibilities.
