About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Float Pool provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team. The position floats between Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Green Hospital (Torrey Pines). The PCA assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and helps ensure a safe, organized environment. Under the direction of a clinician, the PCA assists with patient care within the permitted scope of practice. The role also supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical tasks, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation. This is a part-time position of 48 hours per pay period (every two weeks), with 12-hour day shifts on variable days of the week, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.

Nice To Haves

CNA certification.
One year of patient-related experience preferred.
