About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Float Pool works between Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Green Hospital (Torrey Pines). The PCA is a key member of the clinical care team and provides excellent service to patients. The position assists patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and helps maintain a safe, organized environment. It also assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under a clinician’s direction, and supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical tasks, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation. This is a part-time position scheduled for 48 hours per pay period (every two weeks), with 12-hour night shifts on variable days. The schedule includes rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.

Nice To Haves

CNA certification.
One year of patient-related experience preferred.
