About The Position

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• For a Critical Care unit, at least one year of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• For a Critical Care unit, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification upon starting.
• For a Pediatric unit, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within six months of hire.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse, eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or holding an active multistate Registered Nurse license.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree. Nurses with an Associate's Degree must meet with their nurse leader within two years of hire, identify an accredited school, provide a written plan with an anticipated BSN completion date, submit a transcript review identifying prerequisites and course timeline, and complete the BSN within five years of their start date.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit or similar progressive care setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and patient population trends to achieve best practice.
• Support and empower patients and families as they progress through the healthcare continuum, from health promotion to end-of-life decisions.
• Advocate for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective, providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Anticipate patients' ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs and intervene to maximize outcomes.
• Coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient and family transition planning.
• Document patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluate documentation outcomes and contribute to related performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and lead other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
• Act as a clinical resource and mentor to healthcare team members.
• Obtain a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintain a Team Member Continuing Education Record.
