Float Pool Registered Nurse
About The Position
Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, Alabama, is seeking a Float Pool Registered Nurse. The nurse will provide patient care in the ICU, CCU, Telemetry, and/or Medical-Surgical units. Telemetry patients require continuous cardiac monitoring, while Medical-Surgical units care for patients with a range of medical conditions and those recovering from surgery. This is a full-time night-shift position, with available shifts listed as 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. A sign-on bonus of $20,000 is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of registered nurse experience.
- Current valid state Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Obtain a current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current; listed as preferred in the posting.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a Critical Care Course.
- Previous acute care hospital experience.
- Ventilator management experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
Responsibilities
- Perform cardiac monitoring and observe telemetry monitors to track heart rhythms, recognizing and reporting arrhythmias or other significant changes in a patient's condition.
- Care for patients with a broad range of conditions, including infections, diabetes, post-operative recovery, and chronic illnesses.
- Monitor vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and conduct detailed physical assessments to detect changes in condition.
- Administer medications for cardiac conditions, pain management, infection control, and chronic disease management; monitor for interactions and side effects.
- Manage IV lines, administer fluids, monitor hydration levels, and ensure correct dosages.
- Educate patients about heart-healthy practices, conditions, medications, post-discharge and follow-up care, lifestyle changes, and ways to prevent readmission.
- Provide discharge instructions and lifestyle recommendations.
