Requirements

• Must know, understand and observe all department and plant safety rules and maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas.
• Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job.
• Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
• Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
• Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
• Ability to occasionally lift/carry 20 pounds.
• Ability to pull a maximum force 75 ft/lbs.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Technical training or AA degree in a technical related field is desired.
• 1-2 years of previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred.
• Previous heavy equipment experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Comply with company, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.
• Perform pre-shift inspections on all fixed equipment from barge loading to the top of the coal silos.
• Perform pre-shift and ongoing shift inspections in the hydrator operation.
• Perform pre-shift and ongoing shift inspections on mobile equipment including but not limited to rail car mover, excavator material handler, skid steer, and yard truck.
• Unload and load rail cars, trucks, barges with proper materials including hical lime, hydrated lime, dolomitic lime, lime kiln dust, limestone, coal, and coke.
• Understand and follow all procedures for the safe operating of equipment necessary to perform these functions.
• Clean and maintain equipment, scales, railroad tracks, and spurs.
• Maintain cleanliness under all belt systems, and transfer points, and all walkways in the areas.
• Report major spills that require assistance for clean-up.
• Ensure all tasks are performed with safety as the number one priority, with the goal of zero accidents or incidents.
• Clean all transfer points inside of lime before unloading coal and coal before loading lime.
• Assist maintenance with PM or breakdown maintenance to get equipment back in operation.
• Willingness to learn new positions on shift to potentially fill other positions.
• Be able to perform tasks required in other positions during vacation periods or illness.
• Participate in JSA writings, task training, job description updating and team meetings.
• Cooperate with all teams in the plant and participate in off shift activities when possible.
• Position, move, and switch rail cars and barges in a safe manner.
• Execute the daily shipping schedule and maintain accurate documentation.
• Gather and document quality samples for pickup by laboratory personnel.
• Perform clean and accurate loading of trucks and rail cars, maintaining the tops of bulk trailers as clean as possible.
• Improve processes on an ongoing basis for constant improvements.
• Share ideas that improve truck loading or barge loading efficiency.
• Perform all tasks in a neat and orderly manner, strictly adhering to all company and governmental safety and environmental rules and regulations.
• Effectively communicate and interact with team leaders, peers, rail and barge company personnel, and truck drivers.
