About The Position

A concrete laborer is responsible for designing and building forms, digging out or breaking up old concrete, pouring concrete, and spreading and smoothing concrete with various relevant tools to meet project specifications. This is a very physical, hands-on position. The Concrete Laborer will perform General Physical Activities — physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, or stooping. Will lift and/or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may be performed in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to high noise or low-lit areas. Perform work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather or traversing uneven terrain. Work with a Top-of-Mind Awareness for the safety of yourself and everyone at the job site. Must be able to work in a high functioning team environment. Display the highest levels of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Take pride in your work and in the company. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent necessary.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as jackhammer, laser level, mini-excavator, and skid steer.
  • Ability to communicate and work closely with co-workers, contractors, or site leadership.
  • Well-developed safety skills; learn, know, and follow our Values, Vision, Mission, and company culture.
  • Strong precision skills, as a concrete laborer must be able to mix, pour, and spread concrete in the proper proportion.
  • Organized, detail oriented, and able to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and timeframes effectively with a customer service demeanor.
  • Be willing to take direction from various site leaders; use time efficiently. Be willing to learn new skills.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical card upon hire (company will assist as needed).

  • Industry-related experience or apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, install, or position wood or metal forms per job specifications; verify form integrity and construction to hold concrete during curing.
  • Clean and/or prepare work sites or areas prior to pouring or spraying concrete.
  • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the process.
  • Learn, follow, and adhere to safety standards and safety practices.
  • Use hand, flag, or other signaling techniques to assist and/or direct equipment operators for concrete delivery methods.
  • Tie in rebar to strengthen the concrete.
  • Mix, pour, or spread concrete. Level, smooth, and finish concrete bull float, finish concrete using trowel and power trowel.
  • Use special tools, such as edging tools, jointers, straightedge, broom, and shovels to perform work.
  • Assist with the control of traffic (vehicle and people) on or near work areas.
  • May operate powered tools, radio-controlled equipment or mechanized devices such as jackhammers, tampers, drills, or other one or two person use tools.
  • Assist craft workers with carpentry, fabrication, or material handling tasks as requested or directed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary. Tasks may vary from job site to job site.
