About The Position

The Webber Excavator Operator operates a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket. The equipment is used to excavate ditches, structures, and mass excavations; lay pipe and precast concrete structures; load trucks; and place rock riprap. The machine may also be equipped with various hydraulic attachments. The operator starts and controls the machine, coordinates truck positioning for loading, takes steps to avoid hazards and obstructions, and may service and adjust equipment as needed. The position works outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves heavy physical activity and manual dexterity. Webber is part of Ferrovial Construction, a global infrastructure company.

Requirements

Less than a high school diploma and related construction experience.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy physical activity.

Responsibilities

Start engines and operate machines using throttles, switches, levers, and pedals.
Signal truck drivers to position trucks for loading dirt, rocks, and other materials.
Take actions to avoid hazards and obstructions, including utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
Oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine as needed.
Make necessary adjustments to equipment.
Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing knowledge and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
