About The Position
D2 Technical Services is hiring a Front-end Data Application Engineer to build modern, data-driven applications supporting mission users across the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) environment. The role centers on creating high-quality front-end experiences using React or similar JavaScript libraries and Next.js or similar frameworks. The engineer will work with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to present structured data in clean, performant, intuitive interfaces that support operational decision-making. The role also offers opportunities to integrate AI into user workflows, including data exploration and insight generation, in Intelligence Community environments. The position is 100% onsite in Springfield, Virginia, and requires an active TS clearance; SCI or CI polygraph can be provided. The stated typical salary range is $140,000–$160,000, with actual compensation depending on factors including education, experience, certifications, and other requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- Familiarity with Next.js or similar full-stack frontend frameworks.
- Experience building applications with dynamic or data-intensive interfaces.
- Experience with BI platforms for dashboard awareness.
- Working knowledge of SQL or similar query languages.
- Experience working in U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or similar regulated environments.
- Familiarity with secure development practices and role-based data access patterns.
- Focus on usability, performance, and clarity.
- Ability to collaborate across frontend, backend, and data teams.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Active TS security clearance required; the employer can provide SCI / CI Poly.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting NGA.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue) or similar.
- Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with data warehouse or Data Vault concepts.
- Exposure to applied AI tools, frameworks, or integrations in production environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop responsive web applications using React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
- Create reusable components for dashboards, charts, and analytical workflows.
- Design interfaces that make complex and enterprise datasets easy to navigate.
- Collaborate with data engineers to understand schemas, pipelines, and data models, such as SQL Server or Data Vault.
- Shape and transform data as needed for effective presentation in the user interface.
- Support integration of AI-driven capabilities into analytics applications.
- Work with teams exploring applied AI use cases within Intelligence Community mission systems.
- Optimize applications for performance in data-heavy environments.
- Refine user experience based on mission feedback and operational needs.
- Integrate with APIs, data services, and query layers supporting enterprise data platforms.
