About The Position

The IT Systems Engineer I provides IT support across multiple Packaging Corporation of America locations. The primary worksite is the Columbus Main Plant in Columbus, Indiana, with daily onsite work except when traveling to other PCA locations. The role includes occasional visits to the nearby Edinburgh Warehouse and travel to the Gas City and Vincennes sites approximately once every other week, or as needed after becoming familiar with each site. Remote support for locations in Middletown and Fairfield, Ohio, is planned for the future. The role requires broad IT knowledge spanning computers, laptops, tablets, servers, mobile units, virtual machine environments, networking, VMware, Microsoft Server, SCCM, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook and Teams. The engineer investigates and resolves help desk service requests, supports manufacturing environments, and applies knowledge of network and wireless technologies, VLANs, DHCP, SSH, packet capture, and PowerShell. Strong organization, prioritization, communication, and independent work skills are important. The stated salary range is $70,400–$80,000. Requirements

  • A minimum of 5–9 years of previous work experience in a related ITS area.
  • IT knowledge of computers, laptops, tablets, servers, mobile units, and virtual machine environments.
  • Knowledge of networks, including network switches, TCP/IP, and packet capture software.
  • Knowledge of VMware and Microsoft Server environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM and Active Directory.
  • Experience supporting Office 365, including Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience investigating and resolving help desk service requests and using help desk software.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of VLAN concepts and configuration.
  • Understanding of PowerShell commands.
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Aruba, Aerohive, and Cisco.
  • Familiarity with traffic capture techniques and software.
  • Understanding of DHCP, VLANs, and SSH protocols.
  • Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks for efficiency and completeness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals throughout the company about departmental procedures, policies, and requests for information.

Responsibilities
