About The Position

The Product Application Engineer coordinates the design and development of assigned programs and ensures system performance meets technical requirements. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with tight time constraints. The engineer is the lead technical contact for assigned programs and works with program teams, customers, suppliers, designers, test personnel, and other development groups. The role also includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • New graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Experience with GD&T, DVP&R, DFMEA, and BOM.
  • Basic understanding of common CAE systems, such as Unigraphics, SDRC I-DEAS, CATIA, and ABAQUS.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multicultural, and fast-evolving environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally less than 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing.
  • Experience with safety components or fuel system components.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design and development for assigned programs and ensure system performance meets technical requirements.
  • Manage DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM, and the engineering timeline, including action plans for issue resolution and product validation.
  • Direct CAD designers in developing details and assembly math data and drawings to ensure designs meet program requirements.
  • Direct Test Engineers and Technicians in developing Design and Process Validation Plans.
  • Direct the manufacture, assembly, and validation of prototype parts.
  • Communicate design changes to the program team.
  • Release drawings and math data to suppliers for manufacturing tooling, prototypes, components, and assembly aids associated with the program.
  • Release drawings and math data to customers in accordance with their individual standards.
  • Recommend improvements to the program team and customer to pursue lower costs and increased quality within required timing.
  • Interface with Components, Materials, Process, and Systems Development groups to ensure the technologies required for the program are provided.
  • Serve as the lead technical contact for assigned programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
