About The Position

Olivia Hospital & Clinic is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their Emergency Medicine team. This is a Casual/On-Call position supporting the Olivia Hospital & Clinic Emergency Medicine Department. Olivia Hospital & Clinic is part of HealthPartners, a large health care organization spanning Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The position requires a current unrestricted medical license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Must be comfortable working independently. A minimum of three years of emergency medicine experience is required. Requirements

  • Current unrestricted medical license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • A minimum of three years of emergency medicine experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient to determine physical and emotional needs.
  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Prescribes and administers medications and injections according to physician directions.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Posts tests and examination results.
  • Performs procedures approved within scope of practice and as instructed by physician.
  • Delegates care and makes appropriate referrals to specialties.
  • Respects physical privacy of patients.
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Instructs patients regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Establish patient specific goals that are consistent with the overall plan of care.
  • Networks with health team members by communicating data based on diagnosis to provide continuity of care.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Communicates changes in client status with provider and/or family members.
  • Modifies, implements, and evaluates individualized teaching plan in order to restore, maintain or promote health.
  • Collaborates with other health team members in intra/inter departmental issue recognition and resolution.
  • Gives pertinent and timely report to co-workers.
  • Ability to utilize electronic medical record effectively.
  • Documents accurately and legibly.
