About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Special Education teacher for K-13 students at CRH. Teaching students with disabilities effectively using technology in an environment to increase student performance. Prepare/develop lesson plans, write IEP's using federal and state guidelines. This position also attends staff meetings, community meetings, departmental meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings as needed, attends professional development opportunities and in-service training. This position will assist with program planning and evaluation, curriculum development, educational materials and equipment selection, and staff development; participate in extra-curricular student activities, and other assigned duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in education (or appropriate major area) for School Education I.
  • Must be highly qualified to teach students with special needs.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a NC License in Special Education or enroll in an EPP program to obtain a NC license in Special Education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge in the provision of services to students with disabilities including knowledge of relevant placement laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing IEPs for students with disabilities and administering formative assessments.
  • Considerable knowledge of the psychology and education of students with disabilities, including child and adolescent development, psychiatric diagnoses, and behavioral and emotional symptoms and their impact on school behavior and educational achievement.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with teachers, parents, treatment team members, service providers, and other necessary staff in the development or revision of IEPs.
  • Expertise in using computers for communication, report-writing, file-storage, and accessing databases.
