About The Position

Apollo After School provides school-based after-school care and enrichment programs and is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and caring individuals who are passionate about working with children. Educators create a positive learning environment, lead engaging activities, support classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans, maintain schedules and routines, ensure student safety, and assist students with homework. A degree is not required; relevant experience or a related degree is valued.

The position serves elementary-age students at locations in Northwest Chicago (60656, 60630, and 60641). After-care hours are Monday through Friday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., depending on location. The stated starting date is the 2026–2027 school year.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have at least one year of experience working with school-age youth ages 4–10 in a school or after-school setting.
• Be able to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.
• Be confident running a classroom alone.
• Be a team player who can collaborate with peers.
• Be able to assess and solve problems associated with elementary-aged children.
• Be able to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment.
