About The Position

Apollo After School is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and caring individuals to provide school-based after-school care and enrichment in Northwest Chicago. Educators create a positive learning environment, lead engaging activities, support classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans, maintain schedules and routines, ensure student safety, and assist with homework. A degree is not required; relevant experience or a related degree is valued. The role is based at locations in Chicago ZIP codes 60656, 60630, and 60641, with after-care hours Monday through Friday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., depending on location. The starting rate is $20 per hour, depending on experience. The position is for the 2026–2027 school year.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a minimum of one year of experience working with school-age youth ages 4–10 in a school or after-school setting.
• Be able to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.
• Be confident running a classroom alone.
• Be a team player who can collaborate with peers.
• Be able to assess and solve problems associated with elementary-aged children.
• Be able to create and maintain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment.

• Relevant experience or a related degree is valued; a degree is not required.
