About The Position

The ECMO Coordinator provides day-to-day operational and clinical oversight of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO/ECLS) Program across Community Health System (CHS) including Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC), Clovis Community Medical Center (CCMC) and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital (FHSH). This role ensures safe, evidence-based ECMO care across the continuum—from cannulation through decannulation—while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards. The ECMO Coordinator leads ECMO education and competency validation, supports quality and data reporting, oversees equipment and staffing readiness, and functions as a clinical expert and ECMO Specialist when required to meet patient care and staffing needs. This position works closely with physicians, surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary critical care teams across all ECMO sites.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE), or CHS-approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare-related field. Healthcare-related degrees may require approval by nursing executive leadership.
  • National specialty certification applicable to nursing or ECMO practice.
  • Minimum of 6 months of open-heart or cardiothoracic surgical experience.
  • Critical care experience required, including a minimum of two (2) years of ECMO experience.
  • RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required.
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • NATIONAL - National Certification related to specialty and applicable to role (if qualifying with this option) required.
