About The Position
The Controller provides financial leadership and stewardship to support Scott Safety’s customer service, innovation, and growth strategy. The role ensures reliable financial information, effective controls, and disciplined financial operations while partnering with business leaders to guide decisions and improve performance. The Controller leads financial reporting and accounting operations; partners with Operations and other leaders on manufacturing finance, cost management, and profitability; and supports budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and performance analysis. The role oversees working capital, cash flow, financial controls, risk mitigation, and policy compliance. It also drives finance process and systems improvements, including standardization, automation, data integrity, and continuous improvement, while developing the finance team and serving as a trusted business partner. This is an on-site role at the Monroe, North Carolina facility, with travel of less than 10%. The employee must be authorized to work in the country of employment without current or future employer sponsorship. The role requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods, communicate across functions, and occasionally travel or move through office, engineering, manufacturing, or customer-site environments. Essential job functions must be performable with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10 or more years of progressive accounting, finance, or financial leadership experience.
- Experience leading financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal control activities in a complex business environment.
- Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and influence cross-functional decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
- Experience building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Must be authorized to work in the country of employment without current or future employer sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineered products, or other operationally intensive environments.
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, manufacturing finance, and profitability analysis.
- Experience partnering with operations, supply chain, commercial, and executive leadership teams to drive business performance.
- Experience leading finance transformation, process improvement, ERP implementation, or reporting modernization initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and data analysis capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial information.
- Partner with Operations and business leaders to assess financial performance, improve profitability, manage costs, and support operational excellence and growth.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and performance reporting; identify opportunities and risks and inform strategic decisions.
- Oversee cash flow and working capital processes, financial controls, risk mitigation, and policy compliance.
- Improve finance processes, reporting capabilities, and systems through standardization, automation, data integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Partner across the organization and translate financial information into actionable business insights that support operational and strategic objectives.
