About The Position

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction management, or closely related field is preferred and highly desirable. However, equivalent experience, certification, licensure and/or education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of construction management, construction inspection, project management experience, or construction-related experience.
• A valid Texas driver's license (or obtain one within a satisfactory time frame after hire in the case of out-of-state applicants).
• Proficient in reviewing and comprehending engineering or design drawings, site plans, and infrastructure layouts.

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees daily construction activities, sequencing and coordination of multiple assigned projects.
• Performs regular field inspections of active construction to verify compliance with plans, technical specifications, and regulatory codes.
• Manages construction contracts, evaluates and processes contractor submittals, reviews and approves monthly pay applications, and negotiates change orders for approval by the Board of Directors or General Manager. Manages and monitors progress of contractors engaged to perform work on District projects.
• Reviews and ensures implementation of construction documents including plans, construction details and project specifications. When assigned, performs constructability review of design documents, including plans and specifications for Capital Improvement Projects. When necessary, make recommendations for revisions to project plans and specifications to improve constructability, financial impacts and project durations.
• Ensures that District's Projects are constructed in accordance with issued regulatory approvals and permits, and move forward in full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry advancements in construction and assists in guiding the implementation of upgrades to District standards and specifications.
• Maintain strict personal safety practices at all times when visiting or working on active construction sites.
