About The Position

Requirements

• Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, or clinical laboratory science AND 4 years' Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) laboratory training or experience.
• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology AND 2 years' CLIA laboratory training or experience.
• If highest level of education is associate’s degree: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals and to lead day to day activities of the laboratory section.
• High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced quantitative analysis skills necessary to interpret test results, analyze lab data, and identify trends or anomalies in patient results.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Moderate proficiency with Microsoft applications and solid computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.

Responsibilities

• Assists management in overseeing and directing work of technical personnel engaged in performing various routine and complex laboratory tests.
• Establishes work priorities, organizes and assigns work to medical laboratory employees.
• Performs more complex and/or non-routine testing procedures.
• Regularly checks validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel.
• Performs the duties of lab technical personnel on a regular basis.
