About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
• Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner License.
• 0–1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Ability to build rapport and establish strong therapeutic working relationships with clients.
• Thorough professional knowledge of psychiatric practice.
• Ability and training to prescribe psychiatric medications and manage patients taking them.
• Actively support program goals and system improvements or changes.
• Must have CARN-NP certification or be willing to obtain it within the first 18 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to psychiatric patients.
• Complete biopsychosocial and psychopharmacological evaluations.
• Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develop care and follow-up plans based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Order medications and write prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Provide high-quality, timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population.
• Provide rapid assessment and diagnostic clarification for patients with substance use disorder in hospital and Emergency Department settings.
• Manage withdrawal, initiate pharmacotherapy, plan treatment, and link patients to ongoing addiction treatment at discharge.
• May precept a small group of learners.
