About The Position

The Registered Nurse supports the MaineMOM program and works with pregnant and postpartum individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorder. The RN provides direct patient care, including administration of injectable contraception, extended-release buprenorphine, and vaccines. The role coordinates care during clinic visits, addresses barriers to treatment, and facilitates referrals and connections to community resources, potentially collaborating with recovery residences, supervised withdrawal facilities, behavioral health providers, primary care practices, and other support services. The RN works closely with providers and interdisciplinary support staff to ensure comprehensive, coordinated, patient-centered care. In the broader MH Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Care role, the nurse provides high-quality care to patients and families through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and performs patient-care services to assist physicians and advanced practice practitioners. At the RN II level, the nurse is competent in the clinical role and can care for most assigned patients, obtaining resources to develop skills and knowledge for patient types not yet within their capability.
