About The Position

One of Airetel Staffing's valued clients is looking for a Sr. Accountant located in Montgomery, TX. This role involves overseeing weekly accounting activities, managing construction draws, maintaining cost codes, and ensuring GL accuracy. The position also includes preparing and reviewing month-end and year-end close entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, analyzing financial results, and preparing schedules for annual audits. The Sr. Accountant will serve as the primary contact with external auditors and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Additionally, the role involves documenting accounting policies, identifying process improvements, assisting with weekly forecasts, and supporting special projects. Guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants may also be provided.

Requirements

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and organized.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis.
  • Energetic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt and apply learned knowledge to different situations.
  • Must have a high level of communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 3-5 years of related senior level accounting experience.
  • Proficient with Excel including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of internal or external hands-on audit experience is helpful.
  • Candidates with a "Go All In” attitude willing to learn and go the extra mile will be considered in place of other competencies.
  • Experience supervising staff accountants is helpful.
  • Experience with IES - Intuit's Enterprise Suite a plus.
  • Experience in Real Estate or homebuilding is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee weekly accounting activities, including payables review.
  • Manage construction draws, and the related workflow.
  • Maintain cost codes, job cost reporting, and GL accuracy within IES - Intuit's Enterprise Suite.
  • Prepare and review month‐end and year‐end close entries, including accruals and adjustments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
  • Analyze financial results and provide meaningful explanations to management.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations for annual audits.
  • Serve as primary contact with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare reconciliation of GL accounts.
  • Record journal entries and follow up on the clearing of reconciling items.
  • Document accounting policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
  • Recommend and help implement system and workflow improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly forecast.
  • Support special projects and ad‐hoc financial analysis as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants as needed.
