About The Position

Requirements

• Coaching experience and/or have competed in wrestling.

Responsibilities

• Works with athletes during practices, matches, pre-season & off-season conditioning.
• Assist in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
• Assesses skill level and assists in determining team designation and depth chart.
• Helps develop a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Works with the head coach and athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observes athletes, during matches and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
• Helps monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
• Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Assist in conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
• Follows KSHSAA rules and regulations governing our athletic program.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators.
• Follows established procedures for weight management, proper diet, hygiene, uniforms, etc.
• Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Demonstrates support of our SHS Girls and Jr. Viking Wrestling club programs.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
