About The Position

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Licensure in Iowa as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• One year of previous Pain Management experience.
• Understanding of the PA/NP scope of practice and ability to accept the limitations of the position within the PRHC organization.
• BLS or ACLS certification, or ability to obtain certification within four months of hire.
• Valid Iowa driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record, if applicable.
• Maintain and provide proof of personal auto insurance, if applicable.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong writing skills, including spelling, proofreading, and English composition.
• Ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings.
• Empathy and understanding toward others.
• Appropriate age-specific communication skills.
• Technical skills associated with the position and strong computer knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively with physicians and other health care team members.
• Ability to advocate effectively for patients.
• Tactful, professional communication and positive interpersonal skills.
• Experience with indices and data collection.
• Strong human relations and communication skills, including the ability to deal constructively one-on-one with a wide variety of people and personalities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients in collaboration with a physician.
• Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Provide initial emergency care.
• Order laboratory tests and X-rays.
• Prescribe medications.
• Provide patient education and counseling.
• Form diagnoses and administer treatment in accordance with clinic protocols and established standards of care.
• Participate in developing and maintaining clinic operations in coordination with the CAC, Clinic Services Director, and/or Chief of Clinic Services.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and Lean Healthcare initiatives.
