Foreman: Field Maintenance/Repair Welder - Traveling

About The Position
Maguire is hiring a traveling Foreman: Field Maintenance/Repair Welder to lead field personnel and perform welding, fabrication, and repair work on water storage tanks and related equipment. The role requires frequent travel, including assignments in multiple states and extended periods away from home. Most work takes place in the field, often in unfavorable hot or cold weather and at heights up to 200 feet. The foreman is responsible for safe, timely, and high-quality work; interpreting drawings and specifications; welding and repairing equipment; maintaining equipment; completing production paperwork and reviewing timecards; leading safety meetings; and managing customer interactions and documentation. The role also involves physical work, including climbing and occasionally lifting or moving up to 75 pounds.
Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Goal-oriented, reliable, and responsible for one's actions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel frequently, including extended periods away from home and multi-state assignments.
- At least 21 years of age for driving responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a Medical DOT Certificate.
- Ability to pass a company weld test; SMAW is required.
- Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship, technical degree, or welding degree.
- Three years of welding experience, or a combination of schooling and experience.
- Previous experience in water tank repair.
- Class A CDL.
- OSHA 10 and CPR certifications, or ability to obtain them.
Responsibilities
- Make safety the number one priority and ensure performance and safety rigging is correctly installed and checked before each use.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, and Maguire prints; communicate print information to others and report discrepancies to project managers.
- Repair and fabricate items and equipment using SMAW (stick) and some flux-core welding.
- Examine work pieces for defects, confirm conformance with specifications, and record data as required.
- Correct malformations in parts and bends in metal work pieces.
- Use painting, cutting, and welding equipment.
- Manage time and lead the team to complete work on schedule.
- Motivate and encourage team members to work safely, productively, and with a focus on quality and job-site safety.
- Maintain equipment and service equipment when needed.
- Complete daily production paperwork and review crew timecards.
- Lead weekly safety toolbox meetings.
- Lead in-person customer interactions during field work and present and gather customer sign-off on required documentation.
- Lead field team assistants and personnel in completing the required scope of work in a timely manner.
- Adhere to Maguire’s PPE policy and safety programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
