About The Position

Southland Holdings is accepting resumes for an experienced Jack and Bore Welder for a large heavy civil project in Cape Coral, Florida. The Welder performs welding activities on active construction sites, primarily welding non-pressurized pipe measuring 36 to 60 inches using a Miller Trial Boss stick welder, and may also operate flux-core dual-shield MIG equipment. The position requires an active D1.1 6G certification. When not welding, the employee assists with general boring operations, including preparing the bore pit, moving pipe, and performing labor duties such as spiking, anchoring, and surfacing. The role involves working around heavy equipment and in active construction zones.

Requirements

At least 5 years of welding experience.
Experience welding non-pressurized pipe measuring 36 to 60 inches.
Ability to use a Miller Trial Boss stick welder.
Ability to operate flux-core dual-shield MIG equipment.
Active D1.1 6G certification.

Responsibilities

Adhere to and promote safe work practices established by the company.
Plan work activities with the Operations team to develop effective means and methods, including safety action plans or emergency plans as needed.
Ensure the team has the labor, tools, equipment, and materials needed to complete work on time.
Ensure compliance with company and customer safety policies and procedures.
Complete required written forms and reports.
Wear required personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses when required.
Perform welding activities on active construction sites, including welding non-pressurized pipe.
Assist with general boring operations, including preparing the bore pit, moving pipe, spiking, anchoring, and surfacing.
