About The Position

Southland Holdings is accepting resumes for a Construction General Laborer on a large heavy civil project in Tampa, Florida. The work involves heavy civil construction, including trenchless operations around specialized equipment such as tunnel boring, guided boring, and auger boring systems. Duties may also include jobsite setup, interpreting plans and specifications, using surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment, and loading or unloading materials. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and being available for overtime.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of heavy civil construction.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and background checks.
Ability to perform the physical duties described, including climbing into and out of pits and trenches and lifting.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and be available for overtime.

Nice To Haves

Construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, welding, or related areas.
Trenchless experience working around tunnel boring, guided boring, and/or auger boring systems.
Heavy equipment experience, including operating and maintaining excavators, backhoes, skid steers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts.
Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

Work around specialized trenchless equipment, including tunnel boring, guided boring, and auger boring systems.
Load and unload materials; excavate soil; and operate and maintain heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skid steers, bucket loaders, and forklifts, as applicable.
Set up jobsites, interpret plans and specifications, and use surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment.
Climb ladders into and out of earthen pits and trenches.
Perform physical tasks including walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting, and climbing.
Work independently, maintain a good schedule, and be available for overtime.
Work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
