About The Position

Ohmstede Ltd is seeking a Welder to fabricate shell-and-tube heat exchangers and their components using SMAW, GTAW, SAW, and FCAW processes. The role includes combo welding, component and shell fabrication, shell assembly, and welding tubes to tubesheets. Welders follow assigned welding procedure specifications (WPS), perform quality checks and corrections, maintain traceability and safe work practices, and keep their work area clean and orderly. Other duties and welding methods may be assigned by supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience providing sufficient product knowledge and familiarity with welding procedures.
Ability to read and write English to understand weld procedures, fabrication drawings, and requirements.
Proficiency in at least two of the four listed welding disciplines: SMAW, GTAW, SAW, and FCAW.
Ability to pass an ASME welding test.

Nice To Haves

Heat exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

Perform combo welding on components and complete exchanger units.
Fabricate shell and bundle components.
Assemble and fabricate shells.
Weld tubes to tubesheets.
Follow the assigned WPS parameters for each job, including amperage, preheat and interpass temperatures, consumable size, and travel speed.
Perform assigned work safely and follow EHS requirements for PPE and safe working practices.
Inspect welds for required type and size and for defects such as undercut or buckshot.
Grind or clean welds as needed to meet standards.
Correct non-conforming welds as needed.
Follow weld shop quality-control practices and consumable traceability requirements for each job or work order.
Keep the work area clean, safe, and orderly using a broom and other cleaning equipment.
Perform other duties and welding methods as assigned by supervision.
